If you just landed at Incheon International Airport and your hotel is in central Seoul, the Airport Limousine Bus is one of the most comfortable and stress-free ways to get there—especially if you have heavy luggage and want to avoid dragging bags through subway stations.
Having lived abroad for several years, I took this bus every single time I returned to Korea during summer breaks. It became my go-to arrival routine, and over the years I picked up several tips that standard travel guides never mention.
Why Choose the Limousine Bus Over the Subway or Train?
The Airport Limousine Bus drops you off directly in front of major hotels and districts across Seoul. Unlike the subway, there are no stairs, no transfers, and no struggling with heavy suitcases through crowded platforms. You simply load your bags into the luggage compartment underneath the bus and settle into your wide, reclining seat for a comfortable ride into the city.
One thing I genuinely love about this bus is the legroom. The seats are surprisingly spacious—easily comparable to a premium economy flight seat. After a long international flight, being able to stretch out and doze off on the way to your hotel makes a real difference.
Should You Pre-Book or Buy on the Day?
This is something I personally thought about every single time I returned. My flight arrival time was never perfectly predictable—immigration lines, baggage claim, and customs all add unpredictable delays. Because of this, I always chose to buy my ticket on the spot at the airport rather than pre-booking online.
And honestly? I never once failed to get a seat. Buses heading into central Seoul run frequently throughout the day, so walk-up tickets are almost always available. The only exception is very early morning hours (roughly 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM) when bus frequency drops significantly or certain routes don’t operate at all. If you land during these hours, my advice is to grab a meal inside the terminal, find a comfortable seat in the arrivals hall, and wait until the morning schedule kicks in before heading out.
Terminal 1: Where to Find the Bus Stop

After clearing immigration, collecting your luggage, and walking through customs, you will emerge directly onto the 1st Floor Arrivals Level.
Look for the ticketing counters located right next to the exit gates before stepping outside. You can purchase your ticket here from staff at the counter, or use the self-service ticketing machines nearby. Once you have your ticket, check the departure board near the counters—it displays your bus route, departure time, and platform number in real time.
Do not rush outside early. Wait indoors near the counters until close to your departure time, then walk out to the designated platform printed on your ticket.
Each platform is clearly numbered and color-coded by destination zone:
🔴 Platforms 2A–2B (Exits 2 & 14): Incheon city routes.
🔵 Platforms 3B–6B (Exits 3–6): Seoul city routes — Gangnam, Myeongdong, Hongdae, IFC Mall, JW Marriott, and more.
🟢 Platforms 7A–10B (Exits 7–10): Gyeonggi-do routes — Suwon, Ansan, Yongin, Icheon.
🟡 Platforms 11A–12B (Exits 11–13): Long-distance provincial routes — Busan, Gwangju, Jeonju, Daejeon, Cheongju, and more.
When the bus arrives, show your ticket to the driver. If you have large luggage, the driver will open the compartment underneath—place your bags inside and you will receive a small luggage claim tag. Hold onto this and present it when retrieving your bags at your destination.
Terminal 2: Where to Find the Bus Stop

Terminal 2 is slightly different and confuses many first-time visitors because the bus ticketing area is not on the arrivals floor—it is underground.
After collecting your luggage and clearing customs, follow the signs marked “Railroad / Bus” and take the escalator or elevator down to the basement level (B1).
Once underground, you will find yourself in a spacious area with hotels, a spa, restaurants, and convenience stores. Your landmark is Starbucks. Find the Starbucks and look directly across from it—you will see the self-service bus ticketing machines right next to a CU convenience store. Both walk-up purchases and pre-booked voucher redemptions are handled at these machines.
If you prefer a staffed counter, face the Airport Railroad (AREX) desk and walk to the left—the manned ticketing window is located there.
After purchasing your ticket, walk past the AREX desk and continue straight ahead. You will reach a bright, windowed waiting area with plenty of seating. Each seat section is labeled with a boarding gate number corresponding to your bus platform outside. Wait here comfortably until your departure time, then walk through the gate to your designated outdoor platform.
🚨 One Crucial Warning: Avoid Rush Hour at All Costs
The Airport Limousine Bus is subject to Seoul’s notorious traffic. During morning rush hour (7:00–9:00 AM) and evening rush hour (5:00–7:00 PM), what should be a 60-minute ride can stretch to 90 minutes or more. If you arrive during these windows and need to reach your destination quickly, seriously consider taking the AREX Express Train instead and switching to the bus on a future trip.
Booking Apps for Pre-Reservation
If you do want to pre-book, two official apps support English and accept international credit cards:
📱 T-money Go App
📱 Bustago (버스타고) App
⚠️ Important: Some limousine bus routes require you to physically print a paper ticket at the airport machines even after booking via app. Always check your booking confirmation carefully and allow extra time to collect your printed ticket before heading to the platform.
